If the definition of art was a multiple-choice question, what will the options be?
d) all of the above is an umbrella term that encourages the embracing of disparate contemporary art disciplines and expressions. It is a throwback to multiple-choice questions and attests to the pluralistic nature of art that students and practitioners face in a changing environment.
The works featured by our graduating students of Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Diploma in Fine Art) entail various disciplines — Western Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Printmaking, Ceramics and Chinese Ink Painting.
These works straddle socio-political and personal sensitivities and feature the exploration of relational aesthetics, identity and memories. The title wishes to stretch the watershed that commonly demarks art as art and the paradigms associated with it.
Exhibition runs ’till 11 May 2011.
