Thailand – Pichet Klunchun Dance Company The ancient Hindu epic, Ramayana, is an integral part of the traditional dances of many Asian cultures beyond India, such as in Indonesia, Cambodia and Thailand. Here the Thai version, Ramakien, will be performed in the form of Khon, a masked dance drama which is also the highest form of dance drama among the six traditional dance forms of Thailand. Esplanade Concourse : Watch short excerpts of the Ramakien and a demonstration of Khon, and gain an appreciation for the intricacies and nuances of this dance form. Rasas presents a programme of much loved traditional and folk dances from these countries at the Concourse and the Outdoor Theatre. In these demonstrations of dances from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Thailand and the Philippines, you will not only get to enjoy the colourful performances but also learn about the origins, movements and music of each dance form. Exhibition
Gunther von Hagens’ BODY WORLDS This internationally renowned exhibition – the world’s original and only anatomical exhibition – will feature approximately 200 new authentic human specimens, including whole bodies, individual organs and animal specimens. Of the BODY WORLDS series, this is the largest collection of exhibits to date. The latest installation will take visitors through the different stages of human development, from embryonic form to old age. The multi-sensory experience will compel them to reflect on the elegant form and function of the human body, and its fragility under distress and disease. It will show our bodies living through time: how we change physically as we grow, mature, peak and wane.
