Narratives by bani haykal

Narratives is part of bani haykal’s research on alternative music systems (Reinterpreting Music). In Narratives, bani haykal will present, explore and tell stories incorporating alternative narrative structures and music improvisation.

Collaborating with him are artists Reduan Ali and musician Luqman Hakim on 4 and 9 May respectively.

About bani haykal: bani haykal writes and experiments with music and narratives. He has read and presented works in several festivals including the Kuala Lumpur International Literary Festival, Singapore Design Festival and Singapore Arts Festival.

He is the vocalist and principle songwriter for alternative rock band b-quartet, writer to performance and music collective mux and a relatively new and unnamed audio-visual collective.

Presently, bani haykal is researching on music and culture whilst developing several alternative systems pertaining to storytelling and music, mirroring and expressing modern day Singapore. As part of his on-going research, in 2011, he presented the first series of explorations entitled alternatives at The Substation Gallery.
