7th Singapore Short Cuts

Celebrating its 7th edition this year, Singapore Short Cuts continues to be one of the most popular and widely anticipated showcases of local short films in Singapore.

This year’s programme features a diverse selection of some of the most innovative and outstanding recent Singapore short films as well as a retrospective of Singapore filmmaker K. Rajagopal, a three-time recipient of the Special Jury Award for the Singapore Short Film Category at the Singapore International Film Festival.

All screenings will be followed by discussions with the filmmakers.

Unarmed Combat is a quirky comedy about human obsessions. When the beautiful Pingmei steps into Metal\’s laundry shop, he is immediately bedazzled. He cannot help but wonder why his wife is not more like her. Unconsciously, he tries to change his wife to become more like Pingmei. Little does he know that he is about to set off a chain of events that will rock the foundation of his marriage and turn his life upside down!* Director Han Yew Kwang will be in attendance at the screening.

Minimalist lyrical pop and indie rock sounds from The Philippines will be this weekend’s ear-candy. Partnering Manila-based Kindassault Records for a second time, we anticipate ingenious and catchy strains from The Bernadettes, Arigato Hato and Us 2 Evil 0.
