TOKYO! (M18 – Some nudity)
(In French & Japanese with English Subtitles)

Take time off Tuesday & be transported to Tokyo – through your imagination that is!

Three short films (Shaking Tokyo, Merde and Interior Design) compose the movie. Each segment is freely inspired by Tokyo and shot in the heart of the city. Tokyo! is a symphony interpreted in three dissonant parts, reflecting the image of the metropolis.

Literary Pioneer Series:
An Evening with Edwin Thumboo

(part of the Singapore Writers’ Festival)

Every society has its pioneers. Without Singapore’s literary pioneers laying the foundations, Singapore literature would not be where it is today. Following a tradition started in 2007, SWF takes pride in focusing on SWF 2009 Literary Pioneer, Emeritus Professor Edwin Thumboo.

Aside from exploring his works through the years with Jonathan Webster and Thiru Kandiah, there will be heartwarming moments aplenty as friends and family join the man himself in this evening of poetic melodies and anecdotes.

Out of Time by Colin Dunne
(part of da:ns Festival 2009)

Provocative, poignant and peppered with wry humour, Out of Time is Irish dance artist Colin Dunne’s personal perspective of his contemporary relationship with his traditional dance roots.

Dunne deconstructs and strips bare the world of Irish step dancing, interrogating its style, form and culture, and presents a vision that is uniquely his own. This intimate solo work integrates movement, spoken word, sound design and film.

Out of Time is a bold and heartfelt homage, yet playful with a touch of rebellion.
